As human beings, we have to take certain roles in life even from the beginning. The day you were born, you were given the role as a baby. Then, maybe a sibling is born, you become a sister or a brother. Later, you start school and meet new people, then you take the role as a friend, after that, maybe you find someone to love and you become a lover, maybe you lie to other people and you take the role as a liar. when you start working you turn into a teacher, a doctor, a cook... If you get married, you take the role as a wife, husband, grandmother, grandfather, cheater, ganster, hipster, addict... We have to take in too many roles and we tend to create little worlds so that we can survive among all these characters. Every character has its own little world. You can be a mother , a doctor and a liar at the same time. When you are at home you are the mother who takes care of children and does the housework. You are just a random person, people expect you to clean the house and cook. When you go to work your character changes, you put on your scrubs, you take care of other people now you are a "Doctor". All the people expect you to heal them, you are like a goddess. Then when you take the scrubs off and have time for a little conversation with someone, you say your are happy and now you be the liar. We all do this everyday. We struggle to switch from a world to another. This is what I call the intergalactic checkpoint. When you are alone on the bus on your way home, probably you are at the chekpoint. You are about to switch characters, when you are alone and thinking about your life. Everyone's checkpoint varies. Mine is what you are going to see here.
When I graduated from university, I really did not want to start working right away. I spared myself about 2 years to discover what I really want to do in life. I traveled from west to east, experienced new cultures, tasted different food, saw new faces and heard stories of people. During this time, I was inspired by all the things I have seen; and one day all of a sudden, I had an urge to "make" a present for a loved one. And my story started. I started creating custom made dolls by either looking at the photographs of the people I don't personally know or I created the dolls for the ones whom I know well to give as presents for their birthdays. Then, I started creating little clutch bags, handbags, earrings, necklaces and little pins. I created most of my works between the years 2006-2008.
I have been teaching English for a year now. I enjoy teaching English, but nothing gives me that joy when I have the needle and the thread on my hand.
This blog isn't just going to be about my works, but also I will try to reflect the fragments of my life.
